It’s September. Is Travel Safe Yet?

Many of us are going stir crazy because of the COVID-19 lockdown, and now that it is September and the rules seem to be easing, it seems a good time to travel again. After all, nobody really knows what the future will bring, or if the COVID virus will return in a second wave. But for now, travel is possible, and as long as you do your research and take precautions, it is possible to venture further afield as long as you remember to keep travel safe.

Things to Consider

The first thing to consider is the safety of your destination. Has your chosen destination become a COVID hotspot again? Is it safe for you to visit? Once you arrive will you be allowed to move about freely, or will you have to spend your whole vacation stuck in isolation?

Check out the government website to find up to date information on travel and choose your destination based on that. The situation is changing all the time, so if you want to travel abroad it is probably a good idea to delay booking until as late as possible. The same goes for travel within the U.S., and it is certainly a better and safer idea to visit places known for wide open spaces and nature, rather than opting for a city break or visiting a popular resort or beach. Keeping out of busy entertainment spots, such as lively bars and cafes will decrease the risk of you catching the virus too.

Staying travel safe works both ways too. Visiting certain places require that you go back into isolation once you return, so unless you can commit to at least two weeks confinement at home after your trip, and you don’t have to go to work, it is best to avoid the areas where isolation on return is mandatory.

Providing your destination is not a hot spot and you are free to visit, don’t forget to pack plenty of masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer. All public forms of transport require the wearing of masks, and even if people seem to ignore these rules, it is important to remain safe and travel yourself. Busy areas such as airports, stations, and bus stations are all likely areas of infection due to the mass amounts of people,  so just commit to wearing your mask and washing your hands ,and it should minimise the risk.

To make things simple, it is a good idea to consider your wash kit and cleansing products. Zum by Zym is a great product brand that includes, shower gels, hand washes, laundry wash and soaps. All Zum products are natural yet powerful and effective with some delicious fragrances.
