biography
Yuki recently completed her Masters in Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Her work on the urban stop.space was part of her final semester thesis project, which itself was the culmination of UC Berkeley's 9-month John K Branner travel grant. Having come to architecture from an undergraduate background steeped in words, followed by a stint roaming in remote regions and a longer stint studying traditional Japanese woodworking, Yuki is intrigued by the spatial and temporal quantity of the minute as something that cumulatively describes human experience. Thanks to growing up in a peripatetic family, when trail running, train riding, drawing, writing, or walking, Yuki is as intrigued by the lightness of movement as she is by the solidity of the static. She wonders how the architectural experience can be both ephemeral and deeply engaged with the material, allowing the mo(nu)ment to become legible.
