biography

Holzkopf (aka Jake Hardy) is home in the centre of the sub-Arctic expanse known as the Canadian prairies. It has been an active musical project since 2001 having many cross-Canada tours, featuring festival spots in Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver, as well as pub gigs, warehouse and parking lot parties with select performances in America and Japan. Holzkopf completed its first European tour in May 2006, performing in Finland and the Baltic countries to a mixture of industrial-noise-heads, art gallery crowds, punks and partygoers. A mashup of jungle, hip-hop, eardrum bursting feedback and healthy doses of psychedelia, Holzkopf uses broken machinery and homemade synthesizers to churn out this one of a kind hellish cacophony as much influenced by beats, cuts and scratches as by total noise. Starting as a noise and drone cut-up style project, it developed into an intensely unpredictable live and studio act.
