Lesley Flanigan sculpts electronic using sounds that originate entirely from the acoustics of live feedback and voice. With handmade speaker instruments, Flanigan controls tones and rhythms of feedback by positioning a suspended piezo with its speaker. Natural effects such as reverb and volume swells are shaped with microphones, carving distinctions between her original acoustics and the amplified mix. Among a cluster of wires, microphones, and speakers, she records the sounds of her instruments and her own singing voice to build compositional frameworks that grow and break apart, creating music that hovers somewhere between noise experiments and lyrical song.
