[mp3 .zip archive / 58MB]-- From its early roots in re-mastered reggae, Dub has crossed decades and nearly all genres and nationalities to become a presence in nearly all genres of electronic music. Regardless of genre, however, Dub seems to be not so much a set of definitions or rules, but has rather become a way to describe a certain sound and feeling. Dub can be an intensive studio process, but can also be experienced through live effects and instruments. It is about roots and references but it is also about new technology and recontextualization. It slows things down and draws them out but constantly evolves. Perhaps that?s why it turns up everywhere? never the same thing twice. |
