Stealing for Art's Sake

Jennifer A. Machiorlatti & Rebekah Farrugia

Who has the right to borrow, copy, cut, reproduce and remix what, under which circumstances and according to whom?

Copyright, Culture (Remixed) is a volume set of four short films that explore the impact that increasingly restrictive copyright laws are having on fair use and the creation of culture. They underline the ways in which creativity is, and will continue to be hindered if the current, excessive intellectual property regime continues. Copyright, Culture (Remixed) features interviews with Stanford Law Professor and Wired magazine columnist Lawrence Lessig, the San Francisco based mash up creators Bootie DJs and New York City visual artists Joy Garnett and Eric Doeringer, as well as Kirby Dick and Steve Ross, filmmakers whose work depends on access to copy written material.
