I love spontaneously making little 16-second videos on my mobile phone. Its portability and multi-functionality are unsurpassed. I enjoy working within the limitations that the phone's video camera provides: low resolution, short recording time, a slow frame rate, limited audio capturing capabilities... All of these factors combine to produce videos that have a particular quality: small, short, distorted, pixilated, simplified and sometimes completely abstracted. I tend to focus on natural encounters, poetic experiences, and zen moments, as I find these both meditative and engaging. As my phone is always with me, I can then share or enjoy one of these moments when in a completely different environment: a 16-second escape to another world.
